What is sassafras root powder?

I have been hearing about people using this stuff recreationally is this legal? When I look it up online get lots of results for bark and they say it is in root beer is that the same thing?

Yes, root beer is made from the root or bark of sassafras trees. Or at least it once was, now it’s artificially flavored. The “real thing” is slightly carcinogenic.

If you can get this in a grocery store, sure it’s legal. It should also tell you how potent it is “recreationally”.
